What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is one of the core therapies of East Asian Medicine, a complete healthcare system developed over thousands of years. By gently placing fine, sterile needles at specific points on the body, acupuncture helps regulate the flow of Qi (energy), stimulate circulation, and activate the body’s innate ability to heal.

Unlike quick fixes, acupuncture addresses both symptoms and root causes, offering a holistic approach to physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Adjunctive Therapies That Enhance Your Care

Adjunctive therapies are additional tools that may be integrated into your care. These therapies complement acupuncture or can be used on their own when appropriate, depending on your treatment plan and current needs.

Cupping

Gentle suction cups are placed on the skin to increase circulation, release muscle tension, and draw out stagnation. This therapy is often used for pain relief, relaxation, and to support respiratory and immune health.

Gua Sha

A smooth-edged tool is applied to the skin with light pressure to release tight muscles, stimulate blood flow, and promote healing. Gua Sha is commonly used for neck and shoulder tension, headaches, and reducing inflammation.

Tui Na (Therapeutic Massage)

This traditional therapeutic massage uses pressure, stretching, and acupoint stimulation to restore balance in the body. Tui Na can relieve pain, improve joint mobility, and support the flow of Qi and circulation.

Moxibustion (Moxa)

Moxa involves burning dried mugwort herb near acupuncture points to gently warm and stimulate healing. It can be used to relieve pain, boost energy, support digestion, and strengthen the immune system.
